Long-standing Member Shaunna Mireau receives Honourary Membership

Shaunna honoured with lunch and flowers.

The vote At ELLA’s 2018 was unanimous: long-standing, untiring, and retiring member Shaunna Mireau was to be awarded an honourary lifetime membership to ELLA. As her retirement date was fast approaching (June 29th), Anke and Julie (co-chairs) purchased a small bouquet of flowers and took Shaunna to a surprise lunch at Zenari’s on June 27th. In the uncertainty that comes with retirement, this gesture was highly appreciated and decidedly unexpected.

Since 1992 Shauna has stepped up and served ELLA in every capacity imaginable. She was instrumental in gathering interest for and ensuring HeadStart launched off the ground (and keeping it there). She has been a constant organizer, promoter, and coordinator. Each year she has hosted a well-received session for the new articling students and has presented at many law-library related conferences (including the upcoming AALL around the corner). She has represented ELLA not just within Alberta but to all our Canadian colleagues in various forms and capacities. Her belief in the importance of the work we do is reflected in her commitment, stewardship and advocacy of law librarianship.

We have all benefited from Shaunna’s insight and guidance. Thank you Shaunna!
