Centre for Public Legal Education-Now Hiring

The Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta (CPLEA) is looking for two progressive individuals committed to advancing access to justice to join our multi-disciplinary team! We are currently seeking a full-time Public Legal Education Lawyer and a full-time Community Development and Education Specialist (http://www.cplea.ca/about-us/employment-opportunities). Renowned for its educational activities in addressing justice-related issues, CPLEA has well-established relationships locally, nationally, and internationally within the legal, research, education, library, and non-profit sectors. CPLEA develops online and print public legal education resources and conducts workshops throughout Alberta.

Public Legal Education Lawyer
As the Public Legal Education Lawyer, you will conduct legal and community-based research to develop engaging and effective plain language legal resources to enhance Albertans’ access to justice. You will conduct interactive legal education workshops throughout Alberta for community members and frontline service providers to empower Albertans and support public engagement with the law.

Working with an experienced and dynamic multidisciplinary team of professional, technical, and support staff, you will also be responsible for managing special projects as assigned and conducting legal review of materials developed by other staff members.

Community Development and Education Specialist
As the Community Development and Education Specialist, you will regularly engage and collaborate with vulnerable communities to identify public legal education learning needs and develop educational resources to meet these needs. Working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, you will bring expertise in community development, instructional design, and adult education best practices. Depending on the size and nature of the project, you may have primary responsibility for developing educational materials, in consultation with a staff lawyer, or may lead a project team with several members.
